Grief Release Ritual Script
⚠️ No Guarantees: Wiccan Center makes no guarantees regarding the outcomes of any ritual, spell, or spiritual practice. Results vary based on individual intention, energy, and circumstance. This script and the products in this kit are sold for spiritual and personal exploration purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional financial, medical, legal, or psychological advice.
✦ Ritual Guideline: This script is offered as a basic guideline to help you voice your intention. It is not essential to adhere solely to it — feel free to speak from your heart, adapt the words to your own truth, or use it simply as a framework. Your intention is the most powerful ingredient in any healing ritual.
🔥 Fire Safety: This ritual involves an open flame and burning herbs. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Burn herbs in a fireproof dish or abalone shell. Keep water nearby. Extinguish all flames completely before leaving the space.
🌿 Herb Safety: Mugwort is not recommended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or nursing, consult a healthcare provider before use. For external use only — do not ingest.
💙 A Gentle Note: Grief is not a problem to be solved — it is love with nowhere to go. This ritual does not rush your healing or ask you to “get over” your loss. It simply creates sacred space to feel, to honor, and to gently release what is ready to be released. Be tender with yourself.
✦ WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 🕯️ Blue or white candle
- 🖤 Smoky quartz
- 🌸 Lavender
- 🌿 Mugwort
- 🌙 Grief release oil
✦ PREPARATION
Choose a time when you will not be interrupted. This ritual asks you to feel — so give yourself permission to cry, to sit in silence, to take as long as you need. There is no rush here.
Place your candle at the center. Arrange your smoky quartz, lavender, mugwort, and grief release oil around it. Have tissues nearby if needed. Have a glass of water.
Take three slow, gentle breaths. Place one hand on your heart. Feel it beating — steady, faithful, still here. Begin.
✦ ANOINT & IGNITE
Open your Grief Release Oil. Anoint your candle gently. Anoint your heart center, your wrists, and your temples. As you do, speak softly:
"I anoint myself with gentleness.
I am here to honor what I have lost
And to give my grief the sacred space it deserves.
I do not rush this. I do not force this.
I simply allow."
Light your candle.
"This flame burns for what I have loved.
This flame burns for what I have lost.
This flame burns for me —
Still here. Still standing. Still healing."
✦ THE SMOKY QUARTZ — HOLDING THE WEIGHT
Hold your smoky quartz in both hands. Smoky quartz is one of the most powerful stones for grief — it absorbs heavy, dark emotions without judgment and grounds them into the earth where they can be transformed.
Feel the weight of the stone. Let it hold what you have been holding. Speak — or simply feel:
"Stone of the earth, dense and true,
Hold what I cannot hold alone.
Take the weight of my grief into you —
Not to erase it, but to transform it.
Let the earth receive what I release.
Let me be a little lighter."
Sit with the stone as long as you need. Let whatever wants to come up, come up.
✦ THE HONORING
This is the most important part of this ritual — before you release, you honor. Speak aloud the name of what or who you have lost. Speak what they meant to you. Speak what you miss. Speak what you wish you had said.
"I honor [name what you have lost].
You mattered to me because [speak it].
What I miss most is [speak it].
What I carry from you is [speak it].
I am grateful for [speak it].
I love you. I miss you. I honor you."
Take as long as you need here. This is not a step to rush through.
✦ THE LAVENDER SOOTHING
Take your lavender and breathe in its scent deeply. Lavender is the herb of comfort — it soothes the nervous system, calms the heart, and brings a gentle peace to raw emotion.
"Lavender, gentle and kind,
Soothe the ache in my heart and mind.
Not to numb — but to ease.
Bring me comfort. Bring me peace.
Let me breathe again."
Place the lavender over your heart or beside your candle.
✦ THE MUGWORT — RELEASING TO THE UNSEEN
Hold your mugwort. Mugwort bridges the worlds — it is the herb of the veil, of dreams, of what lies beyond. In grief work, it helps carry your love and your words to those who have passed, and helps release what is held in the unconscious.
"Mugwort, keeper of the threshold,
Carry my love beyond the veil.
Let what I could not say be heard.
Let what I could not release be freed.
Bridge the space between us —
And bring me peace."
Place the mugwort beside your candle or hold it as you sit in silence.
✦ THE RELEASE
When you feel ready — not forced, but ready — speak:
"I release the weight of grief that is ready to go.
Not the love — never the love.
But the heaviness, the ache, the sleepless nights,
The what-ifs, the regrets, the unanswered questions.
I release them now — gently, with love.
I give them to the earth, to the flame, to the unseen.
I am allowed to heal.
Healing is not forgetting.
Healing is how I honor what I loved.
I release. I breathe. I continue.
So mote it be."
✦ CLOSING
Let your candle burn safely. When ready:
"I give thanks for the love that caused this grief —
For it means I loved deeply, and that is a gift.
The ritual is complete. The space is held.
The circle is open but unbroken.
It is done. It is done. It is done."
Drink your water. Eat something nourishing. Rest. Place your smoky quartz somewhere you will see it — a reminder that the earth is holding what you released.
✦ AFTER YOUR RITUAL
Grief does not move in a straight line — and neither does this practice. Return to this ritual whenever the weight becomes heavy again. Each time, something more releases. Each time, a little more light comes in. You are not broken. You are grieving. And grieving means you loved — which means you are exactly as you should be.
