✦ Ritual Guideline: This script is offered as a basic guideline to help you voice your intention. It is not essential to adhere solely to it — feel free to speak from your heart, adapt the words to your own truth, or use it simply as a framework. Your intention is the most powerful ingredient in any moon ritual.
🔥 Fire Safety: This ritual involves an open flame. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep all flammable materials at a safe distance from the flame. Burn candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep water nearby. Extinguish all flames completely before leaving the space.

✦ ABOUT THE NEW MOON
The new moon is the beginning — the dark before the dawn, the seed before the sprout, the breath before the word. It is the most powerful time in the lunar cycle for setting intentions, beginning new chapters, and calling in what you want to grow. The sky is dark, but that darkness is not empty — it is fertile. It is the void from which all things emerge.
The black candle is not a candle of darkness in the negative sense — it is a candle of the void, of infinite potential, of the space before creation. It clears what remains of the old cycle and opens the field for the new. Obsidian is the stone of truth — it shows you clearly what you are ready to call in and what you must first release to make room.
✦ PREPARATION
Perform this ritual on the night of the new moon, or within 24 hours after. The new moon window is three days — use it.
Find a quiet space. Place your black candle at the center. Arrange your obsidian, bay leaves, pen, and manifestation oil around it. Have your journal nearby if you wish to write more than the bay leaves allow.
Take three deep, clearing breaths. With each exhale, release the previous lunar cycle — what happened, what didn’t, what you’re carrying forward and what you’re leaving behind. Arrive here, in this moment, at the beginning. Begin.
✦ ANOINT & IGNITE
Open your Manifestation Oil. Anoint your black candle from base to wick — drawing upward, calling the new cycle in. Anoint your wrists, your third eye, and your writing hand. As you do, speak:
"I anoint myself at the threshold of the new moon.
The old cycle is complete. I release it with gratitude.
I stand now in the fertile dark — open, clear, and ready.
What I plant tonight, I tend through the coming cycle.
I begin."
Light your black candle.
"I light this flame in the dark of the moon —
A single point of intention in the void.
From this darkness, I call forth what is ready to be born.
The new cycle begins. I am ready."
✦ THE OBSIDIAN CLEARING
Hold your obsidian in both hands. Obsidian is volcanic glass — born of fire and earth, forged in transformation. It is the stone of truth and clarity. Before you set intentions for what you want, obsidian asks you to be honest about what you are releasing.
Sit with the stone. Ask it: what from the last cycle am I ready to leave behind? What patterns, what stories, what energies no longer belong in the new chapter? Let the answers come.
"Obsidian, stone of truth and transformation,
Show me clearly what I am releasing.
I let go of [speak what you are releasing].
I clear the field. I make room.
The slate is clean. The ground is ready."
Place the obsidian to the side — it has done its work. The field is now clear.
✦ THE BAY LEAF INTENTIONS
Take your bay leaves and pen. This is the heart of the new moon ritual — the planting of seeds. On each bay leaf, write one intention for this lunar cycle. Be specific, be present-tense, be bold:
- "I am [what you are becoming]"
- "I have [what you are calling in]"
- "I attract [what you are drawing toward you]"
Write as many leaves as you have intentions. When you are done, hold them all in both hands and speak:
"I plant these seeds in the fertile dark of the new moon.
What I write, I call into being.
What I name, I claim.
[Read each intention aloud — clearly, with conviction]
These are not wishes. These are seeds.
I plant them with intention. I tend them with action.
By the full moon, they will be growing.
By the next new moon, some will have bloomed."
Place the bay leaves around your candle to be charged through the night.
✦ THE MANIFESTATION SEALING
Anoint each bay leaf with a drop of manifestation oil — sealing your intention into the physical. As you anoint each one, speak its intention again, briefly. Then speak:
"I seal these intentions with oil and with will.
They are charged. They are activated. They are real.
The universe has received them.
The work is done."
✦ STATEMENT OF THE NEW CYCLE
Stand. Arms open. Face the darkness — the sky, the night, the void. Speak:
"I stand at the beginning of a new cycle —
Open, clear, and full of possibility.
I do not know exactly how these seeds will grow.
I do not need to. That is the moon’s work.
My work is to plant with intention,
To tend with action,
And to trust the turning of the wheel.
The new moon holds my intentions.
The coming cycle will bring them to life.
I am ready. I am open. I begin.
So mote it be."
✦ CLOSING
Let your black candle burn safely. When ready to close:
"I give thanks to the new moon for her fertile darkness.
I give thanks to the void for holding all possibility.
The ritual is complete. The seeds are planted.
It is done. It is done. It is done."
Keep your bay leaves somewhere sacred — on your altar, in a journal, or in a small pouch. At the full moon, read them again to see what has grown. After the full moon, burn them safely to release the energy and complete the cycle.
✦ AFTER YOUR RITUAL
The new moon asks for one thing above all: a first step. Take one action toward each intention within 24 hours of this ritual — however small. Send the message. Write the first paragraph. Make the appointment. Book the class. The seed needs to be watered immediately after planting. The moon does the rest.
